About LAARC
Welcome to the website of Leicestershire Ancient Archaeological Research Community. Founded in 2022, our mission is to promote prehistoric archaeology and a greater understanding of our local history. The focus of the LAARC group is to explore prehistoric methods of building, farming, and crafting, informed by the archaeological evidence found within the East Midlands. We use a combination of experimental archaeology, field-walking and test-pit digs to shine a light on Leicestershire’s prehistoric past. Membership is free with possible small fees for extra tuition from experts. The group is open to people of all ages and abilities, and no experience is necessary. If you would like to join, or for more information please email LAARCS@hotmail.com
You can find dates for our craft sessions on the Workshops page.

This website serves as documentation of our research and prehistoric workshop-building journey, as well as a community resource for all those interested in the prehistory of Leicestershire and the East Midlands.
The Links page is a collection of community organisations, similar projects and online resources. We aim to build a community digital library in the Related Articles pages and welcome submissions and suggestions.
If you are a researcher, academic or expert working in any of the fields we are exploring, please feel free to get in touch if you think we can provide you withh a data-set or output that is useful for your research. As well as investigating ancient technologies and agriculture, we are creating a biodiverse farmstead through which we can observe certain species of flora and fauna. Please get in touch if you think we could work in partnership.
